Swift. Lagu ini ditulis oleh Anggota Band Fun. Jack Antonoff dan di rilis pada

Swift pertama kali
memperlihatkan 15 detik klip dari Out of the Woods di Good Morning America pada
13 Oktober 2014. Swift mengatakan “Out of the Woods” adalah salah satu lagu
favoritenya dalam album ini karena lagu ini adalah persembahan terbaik dari
1989” dia menjelaskan lagu ini mengenai “Kerapuhan dan Putusnya sebuah
hubungan”.

Out of the Woods ditulis oleh
Taylor Swift dan Jack Antonoff. Durasinya sekitar 3 Menit 55 Detik. Ini adalah
lagu pertama yang oleh Taylor Swift ditulis untuk sebuah track yang
telah ada. Antonoff mengirim versi pertama dari lagu ini tanpa vocal dan lirik

suaraku bernyanyi dan memulai dan menyempurnakannya berulang-ulang, dan aku
mulai memukul pada beberapa drum yang kupunya di rumah dan menghentakkan kaki
dan menyatukan semua suara tersebut untuk membuat irama yang luar biasa dengan

Penerimaan Kritisi
Lagu ini
secara umum menerima pujian dari penonton dan pengkritisi musik. Lucas Villa
dari AXS menyanjung Track dari Antonoff dan Swift , ia menyebut lagu ini “Ini
adalah hasil pekerjaan yang paling berani sekaligus mempesona”. Spin menyatakan
bahwa lagu ini adalah “Sebuah pop yang sangat menyenangkan” dan memuji
kemampuan Antonoff sebagai penulis lagu. Time, Vanity Fair dan Billboard juga
memuji hasil kaloborasi dari Antonoff dan Swift ini.
Chart performance
Di Selandia Baru, lagu ini memulai debutnya di Tangga Lagu pada urutan ke
enam, debut tertinggi pada minggu tersebut. Lagu ini menjadi lagu Swift yang
ketujuh menembus Top 10 di Selandia Baru. Di Indonesia lagu ini memulai
debutnya pada urutan ke dua puluh.
