Perfect adalah sebuah lagu rekaman oleh Inggris-Irlandia
Boyband One Direction. Lagu ini dipersembahkan sebagai single kedua untuk album
stuio kelima mereka, Made in the A.M dan rilis pada 16 Oktober 2015. Lagu ini
ditulis oleh, dan diproduseri oleh.
Berbeda dari lagu sebelumnya yang mengusung genre rock
semenjak album studio keempat mereka, Four, lagu ini lebih dominan oleh
genre pop dengan sentuhan synth yang terasa kental ditrack ini. Lagu ini
bercerita tentang seorang lelaki yang tidak mencari seseorang untuk hubungan
yang serius, tapi lebih untuk mencari kesenangan sesaat.
Diminggu awal debutnya 'Perfect' masuk di Posisi 10 Billboard Hot 100 edisi 28 Oktober 2015.
Dan yang lebih hebohnya lagi, lagu ini adalah lagu
‘Pembalasan’ bagi Taylor Swift, karena telah memnuat lagu untuk kisah cinta-nya
bersama Harry Style dialbum 1989-nya. Ada bayak referensi lirik yang
mengarah dan menjawab lirik-lirik dari lagu Taylor Swift.
Berikut adalah Lirik dan Penjabarannya :
1. “When I first saw you / From across the room / I
could tell that you were curious (Oh, yeah) / Girl, I hope you’re sure / What
you're looking for / ‘Cause I’m not good at making promises”
Bisa dilihat dari baris terakhir lirik tersebut
mengenai seorang cowok yang tidak ingin membuat janji cinta sedari awal. Oke,
Taylor Swift menyuarakan hal ini dilagunya ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ (walaupun
banyak yang beranggapan bahwa lagu ini bukan untuk Styles karena ditulis dan
direkam sebelum Harry-Taylor Pacaran, lagu ini lebih merujuk ke Jhon Mayer,
tapi merujuk ke MV-nya yang dirilis akhir tahun 2012 beberapa pecan sebelum
mereka putus, sepertinya lagu ini juga merujuk ke Styles, kalung segitiga
diakhir MV ini juga digunakan di MV ‘Style’) yang “And he’s long gone / when he
next to me /” yang sama-sama berarti sebuah cowok yang siap berjanji akan
cinta. Next.
2. “But if you like ‘causing trouble up in hotel
rooms”
Sepanjang mereka pacaran, mereka menghabiskan banyak
waktu di New York City, dimana mereka ‘Kedapatan’ masuk dan keluar di Hotel
yang sama.
3. “And if you like having secret little
rendezvous” “And if you like going places we can’t even pronounce” “And if you
like cameras flashing every time we go out”
Bagi Taylor, sebagian besar bagian dari kencannya
terhadap Harry adalah ‘lari’ dari perhatian publik. Di ‘Out of the Woods’ Swift
bercerita “Remember when you hit the brakes too soon / Twenty stitches in a
hospital room” adalah kejadian kecelakaan mobil salju yang dialamimya bersama
Harry, dimana media tidak diperbolehkan mewawancarainya hingga Swift tampil
dipublik untuk sebuah interview. Dan seluruh lirik di ‘I Know Places’ juga mengenai
menemukan tempat rahasia untuk dia dan kekasihnya agar tak ditemukan. Jika di
Perfect terdapat lirik ini “And if you like cameras flashing every time we go
out (oh, yeah)” maka di I Know Places terdapat lirik ini “Lights flash on the
run for the fences” dan juga di “Wonderland” terdapat lirik yang “Flashing
lights and we, took a wrong turn and we / Fell down the rabbit hole”.
4. “If you like to do the things you know that we
shouldn’t do”
Di Style Swift menyebutkan “I should just tell you to
leave cause I / Know exactly where it leads but I / Watch us go round and round
each time” yang mana ia mengetahui pergi kesebuah hubungan yang ia ketahui
adalah sebuah ide buruk. Seluruh Lirik “I Knew You Were Trouble” juga mengarah
kesini.
5. “And if you like midnight driving with the
windows down”
Okey, lirik ini cukup Frontal dan sekaligus
menyinggung lirik “Style” yang “Midnight you come and pick me up no headlights”
dan juga dilirk “I Wish You Would” yang “ It’s 2 A.M in your car, the windows
down, you pass my street, the memories start”.
6. “But that don’t mean that we can’t live here in
the moment / ‘Cause I can be the one you love from time to time”
Banyak lagu di 1989 mereferensikan dalam lirik
mengenai ‘kembali lagi kesebuah hubungan yang sama setiap kali” Terbukti
‘Style’ yang : ‘Watch us go round and round each time’ serta ‘When we go
crashing dwon we come back everytime’. Di ‘I Wish You Would’ yang ‘We were a
crooked love / In a straight line down / Makes you wanna run and hide / But it
made us wanna turn back around’. Di ‘This Love’ yang ‘When you're young, you
just to run / But you come back to what you need”. Oh dan jangan lupakan di
‘Out of the Woods’ yang ‘We were built to fall apart, then fall back together”.
7. “And if you're looking for someone to write your
breakup songs about”
Perlukah saya menjelaskan hal ini ? Taylor Swift
dikenal sebagai penulis lagu mengenai mantan-mantannya sejak awal kariernya.
