Avril mengumumkan akan single pertama yang akan dirilis dari album studio kelimanya ini melalui twitter pada 8 Februari 2013. Pada saat di Wawancarai radio Apa yang membuat lagu ini bisa tercipta Avril menjawab "Aku ingin menulis sesuatu yang menyenangkan dan bertema musim panas. Ini tentang menjadi muda, ingin menjadi muda selamanya, hidup di saat ini dan memiliki ledakan."
VIDEO MUSIK
Disutradarai oleh Robert Hales , dengan fotografi oleh Ketil Dietrichson dan pengarah seni oleh Lenny Tso. Pada tanggal 8 April 2013, Avril mulai syuting video musik untuk lagu, hari kedua syuting pada 19 April, dikonfirmasi oleh Lavigne di Twitter dan premier resmi pada 9 Mei. Video menunjukkan Lavigne bermain dengan band-nya di sekolah selama Prom Senior. Ia juga memiliki adegan Lavigne dan teman-temannya memiliki waktu yang menyenangkan di sekolah, akhirnya menyebabkan kekacauan. Hal ini juga menunjukkan adegan menyanyi Lavigne dalam sebuah kelas kosong, yang akhirnya menunjukkan semua teman-temannya menari dan bersenang-senang. Video membuat sindiran untuk video pertama Lavigne untuk "Complicated", mengenakan pakaian yang sama dan skateboard.
